K.W Glennie Commemorative event

Fold formed by fluid escape, pointed out to me in the early 2000s by Ken Glennie

It will soon be possible to sign up for this event to celebrate the work of Professor Ken Glennie - a pioneer of Middle East geology and desert sedimentary processes.

A true gentleman and a big influence upon me when I was a young geologist.

The event is organised by Aberdeen Geological Society (AGS) and the GESGB and will consist of a conference and fieldtrip (to the Hopeman Sandstone along the Moray coast) from 8th - 10th May, 2026.

The flyer from the AGS and GESGB is attached here

The themes are fault-related diagenesis, reptile ecosystems, aeolian architecture and fluid escape/deformation. It’s a great honour to be involved in the co-leading of the fluid escape theme at Hopeman on the 9 - 10th May 2026.
